VIEIRA LOYAL TO GUNNERS TIES

Patrick Vieira has revealed he snubbed a move to Tottenham in the summer because of his Arsenal ties.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has made no secret of his admiration for the Inter Milan midfielder and admits his regret at not signing the Frenchman.

However the 33-year-old declares that the move could never have gone ahead after he spent more than nine years at North London rivals Arsenal.

Vieira admits that he could have seen himself working with Redknapp but ultimately he is happy at the San Siro.

"I really wanted to come back to the Premier League and there was a big interest from Tottenham," he told the Daily Star.

"I have a deep respect for the manager there and he's someone I felt I could work with. I like his personality and everybody that I spoke to, who had worked with him in the past, said great things about him.

"But obviously being an ex-Arsenal player means it is not easy to go to a club like Tottenham.

"So in the end it was an impossibility for someone like me to join Spurs."
