The ceremonial/Award Committee of the Grassroots Sports Federation, Akwa Ibom State has nominated some eminent sports enthusiasts in the country to be honoured during the grand finale of this year’s Chief (Dr) Godswill Akpabio U-18 National Unity Cup tournament in the state. Among those to be honoured for their various contributions to sports development in the state and country at large includes Sen. Effiong Bob, Sen. Eme Ufot Ekaette, Mr. Isong Akpabio, Engr. Edet Ekere, Obong Umanah O. Umanah, Chief Sunny Ibanga, Hon. Nsikak Ekon among others.
The tournament is to commemorate the creation of the state and also celebrate with the state Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio for successfully running the affairs of the state for the past two years. The competition shall also compliment the efforts of the state Governor on Unity, Employment and youth restiveness. The tournament is organized by the Grassroots Sports Federation (GRASOF) and is strictly forU-18 Youth teams across Nigeria and other countries like Ghana, Cameroun, Togo and Benin Republic are also participating in the tournament for the first time.
