Return to Senderos!

ARSENE WENGER has told Philippe Senderos to prove he is worth a first-team place.

The Arsenal boss will play the Swiss centre-half in the Carling Cup at home to West Brom tonight.

Senderos, 24, looked on his way out in the summer but he stayed on after Johan Djourou's injury.

And Wenger said: "His position is we have four centre-backs and he is one of them because Djourou is out for nearly the season.

"In this job you have always to be ready and the day you get the chance you can do well.

"If you aren't ready, everyone will say he's not good enough for Arsenal. We'll give him a chance."

Wenger will stick with his policy of playing youngsters in the Carling Cup and promised to field some of the side who won the Youth League and Cup double last year.

Speaking to arsenal.com, he added: "We will see Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Kieran Gibbs.

"There will also be members of the youth side like Gilles Sunu, Sanchez Watt, Craig Eastmond as well as Kyle Bartley."

And Ramsey, 18, reckons the Young Gunns can do the business.

He said: "It's a competition we can win, even if Arsene fields a young team. We can win any competition. No matter what the side."

Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo leads a side who whipped Championship promotion rivals Middlesbrough 5-0 at home on Saturday.

He said: "We are pleased with the start and I think we can only get better and stronger."
