Laporta: It Was Time For Eto'o To Leave Barcelona

As the build up to their Champions League tie with Inter continues, Barcelona patron Joan Laporta has praised Samuel Eto'o for the manner in which he left the club but believes that it was the right thing for the Catalan outfit to do.
"Inter wanted Eto'o and, advised by our technical secretary [Txiki Begiristain], we decided that the time had come for Samuel to leave Barcelona," Laporta announced to Sport.
"Eto'o was exemplary - he left the club with great elegance and dignity. He was a player that gave a lot to Barcelona and one who was known to give excellent performances."
Laporta added that it was "not easy to tell a player like Eto'o that he did not have a place in the team", particularly one who had played such a part in the Blaugrana's success last season.
The Cameroon international has settled into his new club quickly, however, and found the net at the weekend with a sublime strike against Parma.
