The Azzurri leader insists he did not mean to disrespect 'The Special One'...
Yesterday, Italy coach Marcello Lippi claimed that Juventus would win the Scudetto in 2009-10, before drawing the wrath of Inter boss Jose Mourinho, who suggested that the 61-year-old's comments showed a "lack of respect".
The former Inter, Juventus, and Napoli tactician has now responded, apologising to the Portuguese coach of the the Nerazzurri.
"I am sorry if Mourinho had this interpretation, I had no intention of showing disrespect to anyone," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I was just making a simple prediction, one of the thousands of times I have been asked before the start of the championship."
Serie A is scheduled to begin this coming weekend, with Juventus hosting Chievo and Inter hosting newly promoted Bari on August 23. Mourinho led his side to the title last season, with a ten point margin over their Turin-based rivals.
