EVERTON AGREE TO SELL LESCOTT

If The Daily Mail is to be believed, this sorry, dull and decidedly tawdry saga will soon be at a merciful end.The paper reports that Everton have finally relented and will sell Joleon Lescott to Manchester City for around £22million.

Perhaps it's the financial pressure, perhaps he's realised that having an unhappy player on his books is counter-productive, or perhaps he's just a benevolent soul and is saving the rest of us from the crashing boredom of the whole appalling business. The Mail goes for a mixture of options one and two, and will receive assorted add-ons in addition to the £22million.

Talk then turns to his replacement, and the Mail mentions the names Steven Taylor, Sylvain Distin, David Wheater, Robert Huth, and James Collins.
