Chelsea striker Fernando Torres will have to wait a little longer before making his debut for the east London outfit as he is not eligible to take to the pitch against Sunderland in the Premier League tonight.
The 26-year-old Spain international joined the Blues on a five-year-deal for a transfer fee worth €58.5 million on Monday but the contract wasn't officially recognized 24 hours before the game tonight against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Torres will now have to wait until Sunday to make his debut for Chelsea against his old side Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
ESPNSoccernet further reports that Torres worked out on his own at Chelsea's Cobham training ground on Tuesday and quotes him as saying, "If I have the chance to play [against Liverpool], I will do my best for Chelsea and hopefully I can score.''
