Walcott – I’m fully fit and raring to go

Theo Walcott is “raring to go” as he prepares to pull on an Arsenal shirt for the first time this summer. Arsenal conclude their pre-season schedule with a trip to the Mestalla Stadium to face Valencia on Saturday and Walcott is expected to be involved. The England star has not featured in pre-season after representing his country at the European Under-21 Championships in Sweden. Walcott – and Kieran Gibbs – were key figures in Stuart Pearce’s squad as England reached the Final, only to lose to Germany. The tournament finished on June 29 so Walcott and Gibbs were granted extra time to recover before joining up with the rest of the Arsenal squad for pre-season training. Now they are ready to return. “Because of the European Under-21 Championships, me and Gibbsy came back last Monday,” explained Walcott at a Q&A with supporters on Members’ Day – an exclusive event for the Club’s official members. “I’ve had a nice break – we had three and a half weeks off - but I am raring to go now. “I’m ready to play against Valencia at the weekend if I am picked. I’ll definitely be fit.”
